Under the hood, each string is wound with flattened black nylon that’s polished down to an ultra-smooth finish — no ridges, no zing off the fingertips, just a soft, rounded surface that feels almost like playing rope instead of wire. That construction is what gives tapewounds their signature voice: part upright-bass thump, part flatwound focus, all vintage character.
