D’Addario took the familiar EXL110 gauging on top and swapped in heavier wound strings for the 4th, 5th and 6th, so you get the bendable, expressive feel up high plus a firmer, more solid low end for riffing and rhythm work.
These are classic round wound nickel-plated steel strings, wound onto D’Addario’s hexagonally shaped high-carbon steel core. That six-sided core matters more than it sounds: the edges bite into the wrap wire during winding, locking it in place so the string holds its tone and stays true longer instead of going dull or slipping out of tune after a few sessions.
Every set is built on D’Addario’s own precision winding machines in the USA, with incoming wire checked before it ever touches a core — the kind of consistency that means set after set feels and plays the same, no surprises when you’re restringing before a gig.
