This is D’Addario’s lightest Chromes gauge, so you get the trademark warm, rounded voice of flatwounds without the extra pull on your hands — perfect for long jazz sets, rockabilly runs, or laid-back R&B and pop/rock rhythm work.
Each string starts with a hex core wrapped in stainless steel under-winding, then finished with a flattened stainless ribbon outer wrap. That ribbon gets three separate polishing passes before it ever leaves the factory, which is why Chromes feel so slick under the fingers and sound so damped-yet-alive on the amp — a tone electric guitarists have chased for decades with these being the most widely used flatwounds around.
