D’Addario takes the same nickel-plated steel wrap wire used on their beloved EXL170-5SL set, wraps it around a hex core the usual way, then bonds on an ultra-thin EXP coating before winding. You still get a genuine round wound feel under your fingers and a bright, booming attack — it just refuses to go dull as fast.
