That extra half-gauge on the high E (10.5 instead of 10) gives you a touch more resistance under the fingers and a little more low-end push, without tipping into “heavy set” territory. There’s a second use case that’s just as useful: scale length balancing. If your main guitar is a 25.5″ scale strung with 10s, your shorter-scale guitars (24.75″ and under) can feel noticeably looser with the same gauge. Dropping EXL110+ on those shorter necks brings the tension back in line, so switching between guitars mid-set doesn’t mean fighting a different feel every time.
