Each string is round wound with nickel-plated steel over a hex-shaped high-carbon steel core. That hex core matters more than players realize: its six flat edges bite into the wrap wire during winding, locking it in place so the string holds its tone and tension set after set instead of going wobbly and dull. The result is a classic, bright XL voice with plenty of snap on top and real weight on the bottom end — pull off a change on a set of dead strings and you’ll hear the difference instantly.
