Description
12-strings are brutal on your stock of sets — twice the strings, twice the grime, twice the tuning headaches when a set goes dull. EXP38 is D’Addario’s answer, and it’s their best-selling 12-string pack for good reason: an ultra-thin EXP coating is bonded right onto the phosphor bronze wrap wire before it’s wound onto a hex-core, sealing out the sweat, oil, and oxidation that normally kill tone in days. You still get that round-wound feel under your fingers and a full, chiming acoustic voice — just one that sticks around 3 to 4 times longer than an uncoated set.
Gauges are optimized specifically for 12-string balance, so the octave and unison pairs sit together comfortably instead of fighting each other for volume or feel. The plain steel strings use D’Addario’s NY Steel — the same high-carbon steel behind the NYXL line — giving you extra strength and better pitch stability, which matters a lot when you’re tuning 12 strings back up after a string change.
Fits any make or model of 12-string acoustic. Packaging is corrosion-resistant and eco-conscious, so the set stays fresh on the shelf until you’re ready to restring.
